Poster of Young photographers – fresh perspectives exhibition
Young photographers – fresh perspectives
Young Photographers – Fresh Perspectives was a photography exhibition organized by the Tapiola Camera Club. The exhibition consisted of three photographic sections, created by Ilkka Hietanen, Samuli Saarinen, and Toivo Parkkonen.
The concept of “young” is open to interpretation, but when reflected against the club’s average age, we could confidently be considered young photographers.
Each participant presented one photographic series, titled (in order): Lost, Sk8, and Unseen. The exhibition was held at the Ainoa Shopping Centre from September 5 to September 30, 2025.
Below, you can read more about each section and view all of my photographs.

Exhibition section: Lost
Life does not always go smoothly. At times, it can feel overwhelmingly difficult. In a world so vast that one can feel like a drop in the ocean, it is easy to lose a sense of one’s own significance. Drowning comes easily, and finding the way back from being lost can feel impossibly hard.
It is always worth remembering that hope exists— even on the darkest of days.
This exhibition explores these emotions through a visually striking, dark, and melancholic style. Each photograph and series tells its own story, all connected by a shared theme. The titles of the works help guide the viewer in understanding each narrative.
I am an 18-year-old photographer who has been photographing for five years across various genres, including landscape, nature, and portrait photography. Recently, however, I have become increasingly drawn to artistic and expressive photography as a way to evoke emotion and tell stories. Through my photography, I want to have an impact on the world. I hope this exhibition offers support and strength to those going through difficult times.
Exhibition section: Unseen
This photographer is a 28-year-old engineer whose interest in photography began during the pandemic, when the world came to a standstill. In the midst of a paused reality, it became possible to observe what had previously gone unnoticed in everyday life: nature, life itself, and details lost to the eye.
What would the world look like through eyes that no one looks through—eyes no one notices?
The forgotten richness of moments, details, and worlds beyond everyday haste lies at the center of this photographer’s life, and therefore also at the heart of the photographs.
Will you remember to pause as well, and look at the world with new eyes?

Exhibition section: Sk8
I am a 33-year-old marketer, and in my work I do just about every form of creative work imaginable—except graphic design and photography. Photography, however, is a close and important hobby for me, and I have made a conscious decision not to pursue it for financial gain.
Most of my photographs are pure street photography, but in recent years I have also become interested in photographing live gigs and, most recently, skateboarding. Skateboarding—and especially skate videos—were a big part of my teenage years, and in these photographs I have aimed to bring that same energy and sense of movement into still images.
